Introducing:
Magnificent Magnolias

The Ton is known for their amazing floral stamp sets and the Magnificent Magnolias are a stunning addition to the collection.  Each flower has a different shape and is captured at different stages of blooming.  The branches are crooked and bent into shapes that add a lot of interest and really bring the Magnolias to life.
Stamps:  Magnificent Magnolias (The Ton).
Dies:  Double Stitched Rectangles - Large (The Ton).
Ink:  Noir, Hampton White Pigment Ink (The Ton).
 Mix:  Blue Ice (The Ton)
Paper:  140 lb watercolor (Canson), black cardstock, white 110 lb cardstock (Neenah)
Accessories: Zig Kuretake Clean Color Real Brush Markers, Antique Linen Distress ink (Ranger), white embossing powder (Ranger), dimensional tape.

For my Magnificent Magnolias I did some no-line watercoloring.  Using distress ink to get the lightest possible stamped image, I then colored them in using Kuretake Real Brush markers and water.  I also colored the background the same way with a blue real brush marker.  I diecut this finished, painted piece using The Ton's Large Double Stitched Rectangle dies.  The largest one in the set cuts a perfect A2 size stitched panel.

The sentiment is from the same Magnificent Magnolias stamp set and I heat embossed in white on black cardstock.  To get the brightest white results I always use The Ton's Hampton White Pigment ink first.  The white embossing powder sticks great to this white ink.  I cut the banner then popped it up with some dimensional tape.

For the final touches, I added some black splatters of The Ton's Noir black ink mixed with a little water.  I like using that ink because it dries fast.   Then I  glued on some shiny sequins from  The Ton's new Blue Ice Couture Mix.

The Ton's September Challenge

Hi everyone.   It's September!  Summer is winding down and we're looking forward to the rich colors of Autumn.  It's my favorite time of year and I love all the cozy aromas of pumpkin spice and the sound of crackling leaves under my feet.
To switch gears a little, we have a great fall themed mood board over at
The Ton's Challenge Blog: The Season.
You have the whole month of September to enter this challenge for a chance to
WIN a $50 gift certificate  for The Ton online store.
You can click on the link to head on over and check it out any time.  But first I'd like to show you a card I made for this month's challenge!

https://thetonchallenge.wordpress.com/2017/09/01/september-challenge-917?fref=gc&dti=1365017733549949

https://thetonchallenge.wordpress.com/2017/09/01/september-challenge-917?fref=gc&dti=1365017733549949

For my card the top left picture caught my eye.  I'm inspired by the fallen maple leaves, the warm blanket and the steamy cup of pumpkin spiced cappuccino.  Aaah,  the autumn air smells wonderful!

I started out with  4.25 x 5.5"  140 lb watercolor paper and some of The Ton's brown dye inks: Aspen Cocoa, Warm Hazelnut and Found Topaz.  After blotting them straight onto my craft sheet I spritzed them with water then lay down my watercolor paper.  I blotted and swirled the paper in the inks until I achieved the look I was going for.  I thought it looked like spilled coffee.  Perfect!

Then, using The Ton's Minor Stripes Cling Background stamp I stamped another card front in Bright Emerald ink.  I then diecut the striped and the coffee pieces and a piece of plain white cardstock with the Large Double Stitched Rectangle die set.   This gave a clean, finished look to the card front pieces and they layered nicely onto a side folded card base.  The striped panel is popped up a little higher with a layer of fun foam on the back.

I stamped and diecut a mix of leaves from The Ton's layered Autumn Foliage coordinating set.  Then I arranged and adhered them onto the front of the card at an angle.

Then I stamped and diecut two cute cups of frothy coffee from The Ton's Hug in a Mug coordinating stamp and die set.  The froth is stamped with Hampton White Pigment ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  You can see from this side view that I layered three white diecut pieces to the back of each cup to give them a little added dimension.

For the sentiment I diecut The Ton's Coffee Word Die two times from dark brown cardstock and layered them for extra dimension also.

To top this card off I sprinkled some sequins from The Ton's Hot Cocoa Couture Mix and tied a pretty natural colored, double string bow.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you'll make some time this month to join in this fun Mood Board Challenge with us over at The Ton Blog.  We love seeing all of your creations and it's so fun to see everyone's interpretation of each challenge.

Have a great day and Happy Stamping!!

The Ton's August Challenge - Summer

Hi everyone.  Happy August!!   It's the first day of the month and you know what that means!!  Another great challenge is up on
The Ton's Challenge Blog: The Season.
You have the whole month of August to enter this challenge for a chance to WIN a $50 gift certificate for
The Ton online store.  You can click on the link to head on over and check it out any time.  But first I'd like to show you a card I made for this month's challenge....SUMMER!!

https://thetonchallenge.wordpress.com/2017/08/01/august-challenge-817

Summer background:
I created this summer scene by starting at the bottom of my card front.  I taped off a strip using post-it tape and blended a soft sand color using  The Ton's Warm Hazelnut dye ink.  Then I taped off a section right above  the sand and blended some Cali Blue ink for the water.  Using the water ripple stamp from The Ton's new Mermaid Vibes stamp set, I stamped tone on tone using some more Cali Blue ink.  Moving my way up, I added more post-it tape and blended a soft Bleach Blondie dye ink to create some beautiful sun rays.

Stamps:  Sunnies, Palm Tree, Mermaid Vibes (The Ton).
Ink:  Beach Blondie, Warm Hazelnut, Found Topaz, Cali Blue, Caribbean Turquoise, Soft Garden, Bright Fern, Deep Emerald, Noir (The Ton), Copic Markers: BG23, G00.
Paper:  White 110 Solar White (Neenah).
Accessories: Sunnies Coordinating  Dies, Palm Tree Coordinating Dies, Gold Sparkle Tape (The Ton), Ranger Clear Embossing powder, fun foam.

Die cuts:
What's a beach without some palm trees?  The Ton has a gorgeous set of layered Palm Tree stamps and coordinating dies that worked perfectly for this card.  For the palm leaves I layered Soft Garden, Bright Fern and Deep Emerald inks and for the trunk I used Found Topaz.

The Ton's Sunnies stamp set and coordinating dies are an absolute favorite of mine this summer.   They are really getting a workout in my craft room.   I stamped the frames using my favorite ink color Caribbean Turquoise then colored in the lenses with Copic markers.  I added some second generation stamped palm leaves to the lenses to give the impression of a reflection on the glasses.

For a little shimmer I added a thin strip of The Ton's Gold Glitter Tape to the bottom of the card before I popped it up on the 4.25" x 5.5" card front with fun foam.   The stamped birds and sentiment were my final touches on this card using The Ton's Noir black ink.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you'll make some time this month to join in this fun Summer Challenge with us over at The Ton Blog.  We love seeing all of your creations and it's so fun to see everyone's interpretation of each challenge.

Have a great day and Happy Stamping!!

Perfect Vines - Watercolored With Distress Ink

What?  July is almost over??  How did that happen?

Hi everyone!  It has been a busy summer for me and unfortunately I haven't had much time to spend in my craft room lately.   In case you haven't heard, I'm taking a little break from my DT duties over at StampNation to catch up on some things here on the homefront.   But rest assured, my heart is always with my StampNation Sistahs and I'm still popping in to get my daily dose of awesome inspiration.

Last weekend, with my husband (slave driver) out of town,  I finally had some time to play!   I got a little messy with some distress inks and watercolor paper!   I cut a whole bunch of Perfect Vines out of 140 lb watercolor paper and swirled them around on my craft mat with some of my favorite colors.  Letting them dry between layers I was able to build up color on top of color for a really cool affect.  I flicked a few gold drops over them using Ranger's Tarnished Brass Spray Stain.

I layered the Catherine Pooler Design's Perfect Vine die cuts over the Lattice Frame Die from the Stamp of Approval Naturally Inspired Collection.  Then I tucked in a thank you sentiment from the Enchanted Garden stamp set using the Circles die set.

I topped this card off with an Enchanted Butterfly painted with some more Tarnished Brass Spray Stain and a few gold sequins.  This was a super easy and fun card to make.  I love the look of layering die cuts like this.  It gives the card so much texture and depth without even having to use any dimensional adhesive.

Stamps:  Enchanted Garden (Stamp of Approval Beautiful World Collection/Catherine Pooler Designs).
Inks:  Abandoned Coral, Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon (Ranger Distress), Midnight (Catherine Pooler Designs), Tarnished Brass Spray Stain (Ranger).
Paper:  Premium White cardstock (Catherine Pooler Designs), watercolor 140 lb (Canson).
Accessories:  Perfect Vine Dies, Lattice Frame Dies, Enchanted Butterfly Die, Circles Dies (Catherine Pooler Designs), clear superfine embossing powder (WOW!), gold sequins.

Well that's my card for today!  Thank you so much for stopping by!

The Ton's July Challenge - Mood Board

Hi everyone.  Today we're welcoming the month of July with a Mood Board Challenge over at
The Ton's Challenge Blog: The Season.
You have the whole month of July to enter this challenge for a chance to WIN a $50 gift certificate for
The Ton online store.  You can click on the link to head on over and check it out any time.  But first I'd like to show you a card I made using this beautiful mood board for inspiration.

https://thetonchallenge.wordpress.com/2017/07/01/july-challenge-717

https://thetonchallenge.wordpress.com/2017/07/01/july-challenge-717

The soft colors are beautiful in these inspiration photos!  The one that caught my eye was the top center picture of the ocean.  I loved the pink/purple sky and the dark turquoise color of the ocean.  I thought it would make a beautiful card and any chance I can get to play with The Ton's awesome Wave stamp I jump on it!  It's my favorite stamp in The Ton's Summer Release.

For my card today I stamped the Wave using three inks from The TonBright Emerald, Caribbean Turquoise and Hot Tourmaline.  I cut out a cloud shape from some thin cardstock to make my own stencil for the clouds.  Moving the stencil around I blended Soft Amethyst along the stencil then used a soft pink Ballet Slippers to blend it out away from the stencil for a soft, dreamy look.  I blended a touch of a darker shade, Miami Cool along the water line to add more depth.

Stamps:  Wave, Large Peony 2, Haute Stripes (The Ton).
Ink:  Soft Amethyst, Ballet Slippers, Miami Cool, Bright Emerald, Caribbean Turquoise, Hot Tourmaline, Hampton White Pigment, Noir (The Ton).
Paper:  white 110 lb cardstock (Neenah).
Accessories:  Glass Slippers Couture Mix (The Ton),   white embossing powder, clear embossing powder, fun foam.

Adding some embossed white splashes to the Wave gives it a shiny texture.  I kept the sentiment simple by clear embossing over Noir black, a beautifully scripted "Thinking of You" from the Large Peony 2 stamp set.  Using the Haute Stripes Cling Background stamp I stamped the card base in Bright Emerald then added the Wave  panel using a pop of fun foam for a little dimension.  I topped it off with some different sized sequins from my favorite couture mix; Glass Slippers.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you'll make some time this month to join in this fun challenge with us over at The Ton Blog.  We love seeing all of your creations and it's so fun to see everyone's interpretation of each challenge.

Have a great day and Happy Stamping!!

Friday Fun with Faber-Castell's Gelatos

Happy Friday!  My crafty time this week has been spent over at StampNation .  We just started a new summer MasterClasses series of tutorials with some awesome special guests.  This week the Faber-Castell crew showed us some great ways to use Gelatos!!   Gelatos are little tubes of color that remind me of chapstick.  You can buy them at any craft store or online and they come individually or in sets like this:

http://www.faber-castell.com/products/more-products/crayons/WatersolublecrayonsGelatosBrights15ctset/121813

There are so many different colors to choose from, they even have a line of metallics and shimmers.
I've never used them before so I was super excited to give them a try.   I didn't realize how versatile Gelatos were until I started watching Faber-Castell's video tutorials over at StampNation.  They are water soluble so you can actually use them like watercolor paints.  I learned a bunch of different ways to use them with stencils too.

For my card today I decided to use both those techniques, starting with an awesome background using some green, turquoise and yellow Gelatos along with a pretty leaf stencil from this package of 10

I used 140 lb watercolor paper that had some great texture to it and the Gelatos really blended nicely with my fingers.  I haven't finger painted since I was a kid but I found this was the best way to blend and a lot of fun too!!  After stenciling the green leaves I blended some light green and a little yellow over the top.  Around the edges I used a turquoise color.  For the finishing touch to the background I added some water droplets and dabbed them up with a paper towel.  The Gelatos reacted to water just like distress ink does.  Perfect!

Stamps:  Summer Blooms (The Ton), Hello World (Catherine Pooler Designs).
Ink:  Gelatos (Faber-Castell), clear emboss (Versamark), Midnight (Catherine Pooler Designs).
Paper:  watercolor 140 lb (Canson), Premium White Cardstock (Catherine Pooler Designs).
Accessories:  Mixed Media Stencils 102 (Faber-Castell),  Lattice Frame Dies, Hello World dies (Catherine Pooler Designs), white embossing powder (WOW!), Glass Slippers Mix (The Ton), twine.

Next up, I tried some watercoloring, using this beautiful floral stamp set from The Ton.  I have to say I was so impressed!  Gelatos worked beautifully applied with a water brush.  It was easy to layer each color for a for a deep shading affect too.

I love how bright and vibrant the colors are!

To my StampNation sistahs, be sure to head over to StampNation and check out all new Faber-Castell MasterClasses!   They will be with us thru the end of June so there's a lot more to come!  Also, be sure to sign up for their live video chat next Thursday too!  This will be a great opportunity to chat with the experts and get all your questions answered.

If you're not a member of StampNation this is the perfect time to join!  It's is going to be a whole summer of fun FREE classes given by some of the best companies and instructors in the crafting business. Naturally Inspired to create.

Hi everyone and happy Monday!  I was glad to see so many happy stampers over the weekend, playing with their new Stamp of Approval boxes.   The Naturally Inspired Collection sold out and shipped out so fast that by Saturday there were gorgeous Naturally Inspired handmade cards popping up all over the internet.  StampNation is loaded with new creations and so is Facebook!  It's so fun to see how everyone is inspired by this collection.  You all are doing great!

I was playing with my Stamp of Approval Collection this weekend too and thought I'd pop in and share another card I made with you today.

I started out by watercoloring the background with Catherine Pooler Designs line of blue toned inks.  Yep, that's right, you can watercolor with her inks!   I even  used a little of the new ink color, All That Jazz that was included in the Naturally Inspired Collection.   I layered the gorgeous Lattice Frame die cuts on top.  That lattice cuts so clean and perfect!

Stamps: Simply The Best, Wild Garden (Stamp of Approval Naturally Inspired Collection).
Ink:  It's a Boy, Fiesta Blue, Aquatini, All That Jazz, Garden Party, Grass Skirt, Pixie Dust, Flirty Fuchsia (Catherine Pooler Designs), clear emboss (Versamark).
Paper:  Premium White Cardstock (Catherine Pooler Designs), watercolor 140 lb,  black cardstock.
Accessories:  Lattice Frame Die, Best Die (Stamp of Approval Naturally Inspired Collection), Opaque Bright Super Fine embossing powder (WOW!), dimensional tape.

I topped it off with a sentiment mix from the Simply The Best stamp set, a flower bouquet from the Wild Garden stamp set and that beautifully scripted Best Die.

Sistahs have you heard the exciting news?  The first Summer Masterclass starts June 19th!  StampNation will be joined by some of the top artists in the stamping and card making industry to provide classes throughout the summer,  FREE for StampNation members.
Not a StampNation member yet?    Don't miss out on the fun, stop on over and sign up today!!

The Ton's Summer 2017 Release Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to
The Ton's Summer 2017 Release Blog Hop!

https://thetonstampsblog.com/2017/06/09/summer-2017-release-blog-hop

I hope you're having fun hopping along today.  With 26 stops on this Hop, there are so many fun things to see.
The Ton has 24 new stamps and dies for their new Summer 2017 Release which includes up to four free gifts with purchases. For more information on The Ton’s incentive gifts, head over to The Ton’s blog.   All new release products are available now!

I made two cards today so lets get started and keep this hop moving along.  For both of my cards today I used this gorgeous layered scenery stamp:

Mountains

 https://www.thetonstamps.com/products/mountains

Mountains is one of my favorite stamps in this new release. There are so many different color combinations you can use with it to make it look different on every card.  It's super easy to line up and the design itself is just brilliant!!  It adds so much depth to your scene.  You can use it alone on a card  or use it as a backdrop for other stamps and dies like I did today.

For my first card I paired Mountains with:

Beer

https://www.thetonstamps.com/products/beer

This pairing kind of reminds me of a beer commercial or magazine add.  A nice, frosty beer with cool snow capped mountains in the background.  I went with blue tones to add to the chill and I really liked how it turned out.  This combination makes a great Father's Day card!

Stamps:  Mountains, Beer (The Ton)
Ink:  Cali Blue, Cobalt Breeze, Deep Sapphire, Light Onyx, Noir, Frosted Vanilla, Lemon Drop, Amber Citrine, Crystal Pewter, Smoky Quartz (The Ton).
Paper:  white cardstock (neenah).
Accessories:  Glass Slippers Mix (The Ton), dimensional tape.

The Beer stamp set also has coordinating dies but I decided to cut an extra frothy top out so that I could pop it up a little with dimensional tape.

I topped this card off with some clear sparkle sequins from The Ton's Glass Slippers Mix.

For my second card I paired the Mountains stamp set with the new:

Eagle

https://www.thetonstamps.com/products/eagle

Now, this is one of those cards that I look at and think "Wow!!  I made that??".  It looks like a painting!  The whole card was so easy to pull together.  I stamped the Mountains first and then did some light ink blending for the sky and the water.  So simple!

Stamps:  Mountains, Eagle
Ink:  Soft Garden, Bright Fern, Deep Emerald, Everglade Moss, Warm Hazelnut, Aspen Cocoa, Dark Roast, Cali Blue, Cobalt Breeze, Deep Sapphire, Crystal Pewter, Smoky Quartz, Spiced Chai, Amber Citrine, Hampton White Pigment, Noir (The Ton).  Clear emboss (Versamark).
Paper:  white cardstock (Neenah).
Accessories: dimensional tape

The Eagle does have a coordinating die that I would highly recommend.  For smaller images like this I find it's easier to cut out the die first and then stamp the layers.  It seemed to line up much easier for me that way.  There's no doubt, this Eagle is absolutely gorgeous!

I really love the sentiments in the Eagle stamp set too.  I used three of them on the front of my card and the Happy Birthday on the inside.

Three $25 gift certificates to The Ton's shop will be given away to random commenters from the hop participant blogs.  To qualify, you must leave a comment on The Ton Blog Hop post. The comment period will close on Monday, June 12th at 11:59pm. Winners will be announced thereafter on The Ton’s blog.  Good luck!
 Have a wonderful day!!

I'm so excited to be showcasing some of The Ton's new summer line of stamps this week. I hope you enjoyed day 1, day 2 and day 3 of my release postings.  Today I'm mixing it up a with some stamps that are a little funky and a whole lot of fun!

https://thetonstampsblog.com/2017/06/05/summer-2017-release-day-1%EF%BF%BDDay

For The Ton's Summer 2017, Effie has released 24 new stamp designs, coordinating dies, 1 new couture mix and 6 new backdrop board designs!

There are also four new gifts with purchases that you can obtain with this new release: *
  • Spend $75 or more: Receive a free pack of our new Summer Soiree Couture Mix
  • Spend $100 or more: Receive a 2x3 Floral Mini Banner Stamp (and Summer Soiree Mix)
  • Spend $150 or more: Receive a 2x3 Anemone Cluster Mini Stamp (and Floral Mini Banner Stamp and Summer Soiree Mix).
  • Spend $200 or more: Receive a 3x4 Watercolor Bouquet Set (and an Anemone Cluster Mini stamp, Floral Mini Banner Stamp and Summer Soiree Mix).

I made two cards for you today using these awesome new stamps:

Sunnies

https://www.thetonstamps.com/collections/new-arrivals-1

Three fun and funky pairs of sunglasses along with some super fun sentiments!  I chose the cheetah print for my card and added some fun pink spots!

Stamps:  Sunnies, Watercolor Bouquet (The Ton).
Ink: Caviar
Paper:  white cardstock
Accessories:  Raspberry Sparkle Mix (The Ton), Copic Markers, Glossy Accents, black pen, fun foam.

I thought it would be fun to add some realistic shine to the lenses so after I colored them with gray Copic markers I added a coat of Glossy Accents over the top.

On opposite corners I used the incentive stamp set:

Watercolor Bouquet

https://www.thetonstamps.com/collections/new-arrivals-1

There are also coordinating dies to go with this set of Sunnies!

For my second card I kept it clean and simple to show off the beautifully detailed little flower bouquet in the new stamp set:

City Girls Book of Life

https://www.thetonstamps.com/products/city-girls-book-life

I started by embossing the the new Peony Terrace Background Cling  onto the card front in white to give it a great tone on tone look.

https://www.thetonstamps.com/products/peony-terrace-cling-background

I did some no line coloring on the flower bouquet by first stamping with distress ink then using some Kuretake Clean Color Real Brush Markers.
Stamps: City Girls Book of Life, Summer Blooms, Peony Terrace Background Cling, Minor Stripes (The Ton).
Ink:  Hollywood Star, Caviar, Hampton White Pigment (The Ton), antique linen distress (Ranger).
Paper:  White and black cardstock
Accessories:  City Girls Book of Life Coordinating dies, Summer Soiree Couture Mix (The Ton), white embossing powder (Ranger), Kuretake Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, Copic markers,  dimensional tape.

These flowers have such fine details but they are super easy to color.  Especially with Kuretake markers because they have a fine pointed tip.

I stamped a cute little striped skirt on this City Girl and then used Copics to color her legs and shoes.  I coordinated the pink stripes in her dress with some pink Minor Stripes.   Then I cut the flowers and the skirt images out with the City Girls Book of Life Coordinating die set.  The sentiment is from the beautiful new:

Summer Blooms

https://www.thetonstamps.com/products/summer-blooms

I topped this card off with  The Ton's new Summer Soiree incentive mix.  I love all the different sizes and shades in that mix.
