Cards: A Mix of Seasons and Celebrations.

This week I'm just all over the board with my card making.   For this card I participated in My Favorite Things' Wednesday Stamp Club Get Sketchy Challenge #199.

 MFT Get Sketchy Challenge
I came up with this design.  I fell in love with the new Falling Leaves and Grateful Words die sets from My Favorite Things.   This is my first year making Thanksgiving cards and I am really enjoying it.  Fall is my favorite time of year.  I copied the grid pattern by using a 1 1/4" square punch and adding some dimensional tape to the back of each square.  I love this leaf set because it also embosses the veins into each leaf at the same time you're cutting them.  I just brushed over the edges of each leaf with a similar colored ink to add a little more dimension.  I topped it off with some brown sequins and to add a little more sparkle I added some Wink of Stella pen over the "grateful" diecut.

Moving right along into a Christmas card I used some fabulous dies from one of my favorite companies Lil' Inker Designs.  I just discovered this company this year and I am totally obsessed with their 2013 holiday line of dies and stamps.  I just don't know how they're going to top it this year.  One of the features I really love about these dies is the stitching.  A lot of their dies have a double stitched edge so you can get that stitched look around both the negative and positive cut.  For this card actually made the tag first with an adorable tag set from Mama Elephant.  The little gingerbread man, snowflakes and sentiment are all made with Lil' Inker stamps and dies.  After I made the tag I thought it was just too adorable and would look great on the front of a card.  I used that awesome quilted background die from Lil' Inker and did an inlay with their stitched snowflake dies.  I thought the card needed a little more brown so I added the chevron border die-namics from the My Favorite Things.  Turned out pretty cute!

And finally, I whipped this card up yesterday to take to a friends little retirement celebration last night.  We met Mary after work for a few drinks and some laughs.   I wanted to make her something fun and cheerful to celebrate her newfound freedom.  ;)  I did an inlay using those wonderful double stitched star dies by Lil' Inker Designs along with the stitched border die.   I embossed that fabulous chevron with My Favorite Things new Thin Chevron background stamp.  Then I did a fun resist technique using four different colors of Tim Holtz distress ink.  I stamped Congrats! on some vellum using The Big, The Bold, The You stamps from Winnie & Walter and topped off the card with some rainbow colored  sequins.
That's it for today's cards.  Thanks so much stopping by.

Jumping back into the blog world.

After a couple of years hiatus from the blog world I decided it was time to jump back in and share some of my creative world again.  I had a couple of great blogs going at the time, one featuring my cake decorating and the other for all of my paper crafts.  This time I figured I'd just combine the two into one blog along with some of my other creative projects  and just concentrate on embellishing the heck out of this blog.   So to get right off to a good start I thought I'd post a few photos today, showcasing my most recent projects in card making and scrapbooking.

Using a new line of stamps and dies from My Favorite Things I made these cards yesterday.  I am loving that cute Coffee Cup die and that Chevron background stamp is awesome! I also used some great stitched dies from Lil' Inker Designs.

My youngest daughter's graduation day was the focus of my last two scrapbook pages.

I'll be posting photos soon of a cake that I made recently.  If you'd like to see more of my scrapbooking and cardmaking you can check out my gallery over at Scrapbook.com.    Thanks so much for stopping by!!
